It’s a Cardinal kinda week, astrologically speaking. Cardinal, for those who don’t know already, is a “quality,” a way of expression – a style, so to speak. The term is derived from the start of a season, and so, its means initiation, beginnings, leadership, starting, generating. With five planets in Cardinal signs - Cancer, Capricorn and Aries – it’s the sorta week where you really wanna be at the helm, navigating your own ship and calling the shots. Happy New Year! Well, when it comes to the Gregorian calendar, at least. In Astrology, the New Year begins on the Spring Equinox of 21 March. But anyway, it’s lovely to have two opportunities to wipe the slate clean, right? If you don’t get it right this time, March is just around the corner. Fittingly, there’s a Full Moon in Cancer this week. It’s definitely a time to take stock of the year gone past and to finally let go of the dregs of 2020. It’s been a hell of a year, what with COVID-19 alone, nevermind the personal and political upheavals – not to mention the economy! Full Moons are traditionally a time where we may feel more emotional – and in a water sign, we are definitely shedding a tear or two. It might even feel like there’s just a drop in pressure - the pressure you’ve been carrying the entire year. So, don’t be scared to cry it out, and to relinquish all the things you may not have achieved throughout the year. Of course, culminations always happen at Full Moon, too. Look at the last six months – what intentions did you set all that time ago which are coming to fruition now? Especially ones related to home, family, and relationships. It’s as if things have come full circle. The planets themselves are behaving, giving you the opportunity to have a fairly calm New Year. Venus and Neptune meet in a square, which may indicate too much of a good time – so watch yourself! This can bring a moment of disappointment or disillusionment in a relationship – a fleeting moment. It can also bring a very romantic dalliance when the clock strikes midnight – but don’t bother running after Price Charming or your damsel in distress, because this really is just a magical second in time. They’re not necessarily going to turn into your soulmate. This Venus-Neptune square may also bring a drain to your finances, which is to be expected, right? Don’t be surprised if you find yourself wasting money. After all, it’s been a long, long year. Mercury and Neptune also meet up, but in a sweet sextile. This is a time that dreams are made of, and you’re perhaps given a special opportunity or conversation. Try your very best to remember that conversation come the first of January! What to look forward to in 2021? Well, we can finally relax without the intensity of the Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto conjunctions. There are no Venus and Mars Retrogrades (marriages can be back on again!). We do have Saturn and Uranus squaring off throughout the year, bringing much-needed societal changes and progress. It won’t be easy, aligning the old an the new, but the new looks set to win.
