It’s a Cardinal kinda week, astrologically speaking. Cardinal, for those who don’t know already, is a “quality,” a way of expression – a style, so to speak. The term is derived from the start of a season, and so, its means initiation, beginnings, leadership, starting, generating. With five planets in Cardinal signs - Cancer, Capricorn and Aries – it’s the sorta week where you really wanna be at the helm, navigating your own ship and calling the shots. This is the week that the whole year has been wating for! There’s an enormous shift as a powerful Solar Eclipse gathers in Sagittarius, and the Titans, Saturn and Jupiter, finally move into liberal Aquarius for at least a year! Coming from responsible, rigid and materially-fussed Capricorn, the lessons have been tough. Career topics and the economy – individually and personally – have been on the lips of every human being this year. No wonder it’s a welcome change as all the focus shifts onto Aquarian topics, such as freedom, liberty, justice and humanitarianism. Aquarius is also about community, the collective and knowledge. With the planet of limits – Saturn – and the planet of expansion- Jupiter – in the same sign, big things happen – slowly. They complement each other as they tend to temper one another. Without Saturn, Jupiter would never know when to stop, and without Jupiter, Saturn would simply be dreary. Good fortune and lessons go hand in hand in the coming times. Now is the time to up-level our knowledge, take a course of study, help our fellow man and learn the true value of freedom. We may face limits on freedom from the start of this week, where we are urged to find workable solutions. For those of you with the sign of Aquarius strong in your astrology charts (Sun, Moon or Ascendant), this is going to be the biggest growth of your life thus far! Of course, we cannot forget to leave this Eclipse out. A Total Solar Eclipse (a super-New Moon, so to speak) indicates powerful and long-lasting changes. It’s also about freedom, knowledge and educating ourselves. This is an important time to question our beliefs and see if they hold water. What does freedom mean to you? Where would you like to grow – and what would you be willing to sacrifice? Eclipse always take something away – that thing is effectively “eclipsed” out of our lives and it can feel painful, at first. However, a Solar Eclipse always offers something brand-new to take its place. Even more so than an ordinary New Moon. Those of us who have total physical view of the Eclipse will experience this more intensely, and especially those of us who have Sagittarius in our charts. Now is the time to educate ourselves, to spread our knowledge, and learn from others. Venus, too, moves into Sagittarius, even showing that relationships become a platform for growth and freedom. Mercury heads into Capricorn, lending us some much-needed practicality in a week of idealism. Don’t be surprised if huge life events take place for you over the next several months, or in the weeks leading up to and following these major astrological cycles! This is a week to really take notice of what’s happening all around us and to apply ourselves to the education that the cosmos wants to give us.
