Rose O’Neill (1874-1944) was an American cartoonist, illustrator, artist, and writer. She rose to fame for her creation of the popular comic strip characters, Kewpies, in 1909. Att one point, she was the highest paid female illustrator in America. She was an influential voice in the suffrage movement, and used her art and platform to advocate for women’s right to vote.
