In this episode, Chris learns all about the 1908 Olympics that were hastily moved from Rome to London due to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Not only were these the fourth modern Olympiad, but they included a marathon, that whilst it didn’t quite rival the 1904 Olympic marathon, did include champagne and brandy! Best of all though, one of the events was men duelling with pistols that fired wax bullets, so whilst not fatal, not what you’d expect to be going on at an Olympic Games. Harrison meanwhile discovers the invasive species of Asian Carp that are threatening to break into the US’ Great Lakes and eat their way through billions of dollars of fishing.
