#91 Keke Palmer: Stop Seeking Approval
Wanna Be - A podcast by Content Is Queen - Wednesdays
Hello and welcome to Season 3 of the Wanna Be Podcast. The podcast that takes you from where you are now to where you wanna be in 30 minutes or less. It’s been so long since I’ve been on-air and I’ve truly missed speaking to you! It’s been a crazy couple of months with some monumental changes for me and my career. For anyone that follows me or the podcast on social media you’ll know 2 things! 1) I’m no longer at the ShoutOut Network. 2) I’ve started my own company under Content is Queen and given everything a revamp. That’s right the colours logos everything is different.I am beyond thrilled to bring you today’s episode! Today’s guest is the infamous Keke Palmer- yes, that’s right. There’s no gag here! While I personally think Keke needs no introduction, but I’ll give her one anyway because her resume stacked she is still out here working hard.Keke Palmer is an actress, singer and television host. She’s actually the youngest woman to have her own TV show. Keke made her acting debut Barbershop 2: Back in Business. You might have caught her in Akeelah and the Bee, Madea’s Family Reunion, and Scream Queens.Keke most recently starred alongside Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu in the movie Hustlers!- If you haven’t seen it yet you can watch it via Amazon Prime, Google play and Apple. In today’s episode Keke and I talk about what she does to look after herself when she’s on set- so if you’ve got a busy lifestyle, be sure to take notes! Keke shares the important difference between justifying behaviour vs having empathy for the actions of others. We also get some insight on why she uses humour to manage anxiety and trauma. For the goal-getter in you we tackle what changes when you start to achieve your hopes and dreams. Just a quick note about the audio, we ended up using our back up recording as the original didn’t capture Keke’s side! So my apologies in advance it was too good to not put out plus it’s short and sweet so you’ll get past it. Let’s go!I hope my fangirling over Keke didn’t distract you from all of the wisdom she dropped on this episode. She was an absolute dream to interview! If you’re a fan or just became one be sure to check her out in the movie Hustlers! I’ve seen it and really enjoyed it. You can follow Keke on Instagram @keke or on Twitter @kekepalmer. Thank you so much for listening in.Now that I’m now proudly running Content Is Queen- which you might recognise as the name of the women’s podcast festival I launched with ShoutOut a little over a year ago!
