This week’s guest is Nels Abbey author of the funny new book Think Like a White Man, Nels is a British-Nigerian writer and media executive, and a graduate of the Penguin WriteNow scheme. In a previous life, Nels was a banker. Much of the book was inspired by his direct experience of trying to build a career in white-dominated areas – first in the city and later in the media. This is his first book which is described as a satirical self-help book skewering the prejudices of the modern day British workplace, by explaining the rules by which mediocre white men continue to get ahead. It publishes on May 16th. In today’s episode, Nels will show you what to expect from working in all-white environments. Nels shares why it’s important that you have a creative pursuit outside of your corporate job. We talk about what you might want to do if you’re the only one in the office. Listen, recording with Nels was a whole vibe. Make sure you go and get a copy of Think Like a White Man when it drops on May 16th.
