Shinzan Palma: The Intimacy of Liturgy

Upaya Zen Center's Dharma Podcast - A podcast by Joan Halifax | Zen Buddhist Teacher Upaya Abbot - Sundays

Sensei Shinzan Palma opens Upaya’s 2022 Spring Practice Period with a talk on the intimacy of Zen liturgy. Shinzan suggests that our individualistic Western culture is deficient in community rituals.  He proposes that the practice of Zen liturgy can play a part in revealing our interconnectedness with all beings, past, present, and future. Liturgy, Shinzan insists, is not about the rote repetition of dead forms but about waking up to what is happening right now so that we can be of service to others.
