One Body Buddha

Upaya Zen Center's Dharma Podcast - A podcast by Joan Halifax | Zen Buddhist Teacher Upaya Abbot - Sundays

What and where is our body? This is the question Sensei Matthew Kozan Palevsky asks us to deeply consider in this probing dharma talk. Is our body, as we commonly experience it, limited by the boundary of our skin? Calling on the teachings of Dogen and the 8th century Chinese monk Shitou, Kozan challenges this notion and invites us into a more expansive view of the body, one that includes our whole life and the whole world. To cultivate this new experience of the body, we come back to the core of our Zen practice – the practice of returning again and again to our immediate experience where the boundary between “inside” and “outside” collapses.
