Love and Death 2024: Grief, Loss, and a Welling Heart Part 2 (8 of 8)

Upaya Zen Center's Dharma Podcast - A podcast by Joan Halifax | Zen Buddhist Teacher Upaya Abbot - Sundays

This episode is a continuation of the 8/25/24 morning session of Love and Death program where … Frank Ostaseski tenderly leads participants into the concepts and practice of metta. Frank discusses near and far enemies of the four brahmaviharas (loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity) and leads a metta practice to cultivate and stabilize these wholesome states. Roshi Joan reminds us we will not always meet challenging circumstances with perfect grace. Roshi encourages us to see our own limits and the inevitability of afflictive emotions as a way to receive suffering without personalizing it, extending our ability to persist in difficult situations.
