Avery Collins Interview
Ultrarunnerpodcast.com - A podcast by Eric Schranz

Avery Collins Interview In this interview with Avery Collins, I get a chance to hear what it’s like racing Gary Robbins through the jungle at HURT 100, and what he’d do differently next year. We talk about weight training, an insane schedule of some of the world’s toughest ultramarathons, and the proper use of bodyglide. For the bulk of the interview, we chat about Avery’s outspoken advocacy of cannabis in the world of MUT running. Is it a PED at all, and when is it not OK to get high while running? Why is pot looked down on, but beer (as well as NSAIDs and other medications) are accepted? How would he feel about getting beat by someone doping? Avery Collins is 23, he lives in Steamboat Springs, he works part time at a running shop and part time at a skishop and he’s sponsored by 2 marijuana companies. To some, he’s living the dream life. Episode Notes: WSJ article: The debate over running while high. Scott Dunlap’s blog post. Avery is sponsored by Incredible Edibles and Mary’s Medicinals. Here’s his FB athlete page. Check it out. Here’s the North Face Hyperion jacket I was talking about. Finally, breathable and water resistant!
