Amelia Boone Interview

Ultrarunnerpodcast.com - A podcast by Eric Schranz

Amelia Boone – Obstacle Course Racing Ultrarunner Extraordinaire! In the world of Obstacle Course Racing, Amelia Boone stands tall. She’s been named the World’s Toughest Mudder, she’s graced the covers of magazines, and enjoys a lucrative contract with Reebok.  So what’s she doing on an ultramarathon podcast? Turns out, she’s also one heckuva trail runner and just entered her second ultramarathon in the Golden-Ticket-eligible Sean O’Brien 100k.  Amelia finished 2nd female, 4th overall, and grabbed herself a bib at Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run in June. Now what? How does she balance OCR and Western States training, not to mention her career as a corporate attorney at this little company called Apple? We talk about how she got into each discipline, the differences in scenes, pain management, time management, her personal life, and why she says “beer doesn’t like her.” We also discuss the rapid rise in OCR racing, how money affects sports, and why she’s afraid of bikes.  Amelia is loving life and isn’t afraid to push past her limits. We can’t wait to see her line up in Squaw in June! Definitely a fun interview with an energetic and amazing woman. Amelia Boone Episode Notes: Episode sponsored by Grand Circle Trail Fest. Here’s Amelia’s blog. She’s sponsored by Reebok and BeetElite. Here’s the interview with Devon Yanko we referenced. Here’s Matt Flaherty’s music page.
