A Manhattan grand jury has handed up a first-ever criminal indictment against a president of the United States. Donald Trump is to be formally indicted next Tuesday over alleged hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels. It is not the US Justice Department who got the first indictment in, but a local prosecutor. In New York, like in much of the United States, district attorneys are elected. Alvin Bragg is a Democrat.
