Episode 202: Racial Trauma with Thema Bryant-Davis

The Trauma Therapist - A podcast by Guy Macpherson, PhD

Categories:

Today I’m excited to have back, Dr. Thema Bryant-Davis.

I first interviewed Thema back on episode 52 of the podcast. Thema is one of those rare individuals who is pretty much capable of doing everything: She’s a psychologist, an artist, and an ordained minister, a dynamic speaker and as you’ll hear from this interview, she’s inspiring and empowering.

In this episode, Thema shares her knowledge and expertise on the subject of racial trauma, a topic I have yet to cover on this podcast.

Thema is an Associate Professor of psychology at Pepperdine University. She is director of the Culture and Trauma Research Lab and associate editor of the journal Psychological Trauma. She is the author of the book Thriving in the wake of trauma: a multicultural guide and editor of the book Surviving Sexual Violence.

Thema is a past psychology representative to the UN and a past president of the Society for the Psychology of Women. She is a researcher, clinician, advocate, and survivor.
