The TikTok question to women about men and bears has gone viral, sparking commentary on men and women which is largely anecdotal. The entire hypothetical scenario is a fallacy. Men may engage in violent crime at higher rates than woman but men are also the most likely to be victims of violent men. Women are twice as likely as men, when compared to men, to be victims of other women. Men are also more likely to protect women, as they represent nearly 9/10 soldiers and police. Yes, 1/3 women are victims of intimate partner or other forms of violence but so are 1/4 men.
