Get What You Came For | BOYSEN HODGSON, MKP

The Will Spencer Podcast - A podcast by Will Spencer - Fridays

Boysen Hodgson is the Communications and Marketing Director for the ManKind Project USA. MKP runs a weekend men’s initiation experience called the New Warrior Training Adventure, which has hosted more than 75,000 men worldwide since 1985. The NWTA was my entry into the world of masculine personal development, and the moment when I knocked on a door to discover what masculinity is, for myself. It’s Boysen’s job to help MKP reach more men, and he’s the guy responsible for getting MKP coverage via Men’s Health Magazine, the New York Times, NPR, and the Today Show, among many others. Naturally Boysen also had his life transformed on his weekend, and you’ll get to hear more about that in our conversation. We also discussed:  The New Warrior Training Adventure's archetypal initiation arc The dangers of being a "nice guy," and how to transition into being a genuinely kind man, and what the difference is The value of having connected, high-integrity leaders in an ambiguous age And finally, the importance of inner work in a world of men's personal development that can often focus too heavily on the outer One of the things I love most about this Renaissance is that many different communities of men are approaching and discovering masculinity from many different angles. We are all brothers in doing this, and we all have gifts to give each other as we create something truly noble and grand, maybe for the first time in history. I've learned a lot about masculinity in the years since my New Warrior Training Adventure, but I feel confident saying that I wouldn't be here without it, and I might not even be here without the work of Boysen himself.
