Ziska's birth centre arrival of Auri - a life changing experience
The Positive Births NZ podcast - A podcast by Helen Bartrom

As long as she can remember Ziska was really scared of birth. She talks about her visceral reactions whenever anyone would mention anything birth related. She had never previously associated birth with being a positive and powerful experience. So it’s so wonderful to know that now, (we speak to her when baby Auri is just 18 days old), she describes her birth as healing, affirming and a life changing experience. She says birth is now something she realises she CAN do because it was something that she never previously thought was possible for her. (Trigger warning - baby loss. Ziska briefly shares about her first pregnancy journey a few months prior to their pregnancy with Auri, where sadly they had to terminate their baby girl at 16 weeks for medical reasons.) Her pregnancy with Auri is also stressful as there are potential issues with baby. However, things change a lot in her pregnancy and the good news is, is that by 33 weeks they’re in the all clear for a normal healthy baby which means they can finally prepare for a normal natural birth - which is exactly what they achieve. Ziska also has many insights to share with us about her changing and evolving journey and some words of wisdom for any mums going through breastfeeding challenges, which she is currently experiencing at the time of our chat.
