Anneke shares her very long but incredible birth journey to meet her baby girl Kahu which was 75 hours in total. She used a number of tools to help her through, and you'll hear how she managed so well, mentally and physically through this time. In this episode she talks about not wanting to be induced, induction with misoprostal, ventouse delivery and the importance of a birth debrief with her midwife. It was from hearing of her midwifes perspective about her birth that helped to change her initial thoughts and feelings about the birth. Anneke tells us she had this knowing that her body could do it, she never once asked for pain relief. On day 3 of labour she trusted the feeling that she was ok and baby was ok. She says she didn’t feel pain, it was a lot of pressure and it took concentration to manage, but she COULD manage it. This is a positive story of courage, perseverance, trust and control and the value of a good midwife.
