Welcome to episode 140 of The PE Umbrella Podcast! This week I am podcasting solo and bringing with you a deep reflections episode all about cognitive biases. Having been fascinated with this topic for the past month or so, I took it upon myself to select some cognitive biases that many of us (and our students) will display (whether we think we do or not) and how we can look out for/manage them in our daily lives. I am by no meant an expert in this area, but rather somebody who feels there is value in acknowledging that they exist and the advantage it can be if we understand them more. During this episode I discuss: - Self-serving bias - Anchoring bias - The Ikea Effect/Sunk cost fallacy - Confirmation Bias - Bandwagon effect - Social Loafing Jump under the umbrella with me and join in the conversation by tweeting me @thepeumbrella. Note pad ready!
