Transcript:Hi there,In episode 10 I touched on some of the points regarding the topic of KONOS. I said I would dive deeper into each one and discuss it here with you. So point number 2 from episode 10 wasTrying desperately to make it be something it is NOT….for example a curriculum that you follow rather than a parent tool to assist in raising, shaping, moulding characters AND have FUN while learning.KONOS can be used as a formal educational instructional knowledge imparting manual….because it has a LOT within it which can give just that but where it’s true value lies is in it being a parent resource for the training and moulding of character.Let me illustrate this in the following way.Let us take the topic of authority. In the KONOS manual in the unit for obedience there is a section on teaching children about authority systems and structures in the world….eg, police, governments etc…..the purpose for teaching the children about this is for them to learn about authority and the importance of obedience to authority, starting with them being obedient to their parents who are put into a position of authority over them for their own safety and care…..then take that further into other authorities and the importance of obedience etcHowever what can (and does) happen is parents get so caught up in the formal lessons of knowledge and facts (which are maybe facts today but may not be facts when the children reach adult life) even so parents become so focussed on the teaching of knowledge that they miss the greater purpose and focus and that being training and instilling the Importance of obedience to authority. So KONOS living then become a stress and overwhelms parents instead of it being a journey of a learning lifestyle where the family members are growing together in character while they learn about the importance of obedience …..and while they growing this character trait by way of doing activities and so shaping their characters while at the same time building memories and experiences which solidify the importance of a specific character trait but at the same time they are receiving the by-product of the more academic knoweldge based learning even though that was not the primary objective to begin with. So, I hope that example clarifies - what KONOS it is not….because it is not about formal academic learning but it is about the training of character and the academics happen alongside as a bonus - byproduct …..Thank you for joining me todayI look forward to sharing more on this topic with you in the next podcast.Bye for now––Website: https://www.oikosfamily.co.zaPatreon: https://patreon.com/oikosYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/oikosfamily/Facebook: @oikosfamilyministries This is a public episode.
