Despite the current tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Russia has assumed the Presidency of the UN Security Council. The role rotates between each of the fifteen members, each holding the position for a month at a time. The last time Russia held the position was in February of 2022, and they proceeded to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
