An unclear picture is being painted of the level of need in our health system. An editorial in the latest Medical Journal raises questions about why we're not appropriately measuring Unmet Secondary Elective Healthcare Need, otherwise known as non-urgent hospital treatment. Otago Business School Dean, Professor Robin Gauld told Mike Hosking they've done some work towards what officials would find if they did measure it.
