Heightened demand in a changing police environment is shifting response time targets for call-outs. Targets have been adjusted, giving officers twice as much time to get to emergencies in urban areas at 45-minutes. Rural targets are up to 60 minutes from 45 - and police can now respond to fewer burglaries in 48-hours. Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming told Tim Dower they're seeing significant growth in call-outs. He says there's been almost a doubling in family harm and mental health call outs over the past ten years - and they've had to have an honest conversation about their performance goals.
