Erica Stanford: National Education spokesperson says students from low-income backgrounds are being left behind

The Mike Hosking Breakfast - A podcast by Newstalk ZB - Thursdays

Preliminary data shows students are failing to meet minimum writing standards. Data from trials of the NCEA literacy and numeracy tests prove students from lower-decile schools are falling behind, as only two percent of decile 1 students passed the exam's writing section. Some say income inequality's to blame,  as well over half of learners from higher-decile schools passed the writing standards. These will be fully rolled out in 2024, and the Opposition's already calling on the Government to take action on education. National party Education spokesperson Erica Stanford told Mike Hosking students from low-income backgrounds are being left behind. LISTEN ABOVE  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
