Dr Alyssa Lie: Researcher on eye drops developed in the US that could save people from needing to wear reading glasses

The Mike Hosking Breakfast - A podcast by Newstalk ZB - Mondays

A new kind of eye drops developed in the United States could save people from needing to wear reading glasses. A pharmaceutical company has been granted FDA approval for prescription-only use for the drops, to target blurry near vision. They work by constricting the pupil to increase the depth of focus. The product isn't yet available in New Zealand, but researchers here are set to take a closer look. Auckland University researcher Dr Alyssa Lee told Mike Hosking studies so far have only been done for a relatively short time. She says more research is needed into what the potential long-term side effects might be. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
