Arthur Russell's Posthumous Album Iowa Dream with Steve Knutson

The Lion’s Roar Podcast - A podcast by Lion’s Roar Foundation - Saturdays

Arthur Russell was a musician known for experimenting with various genres, from Indian classical to disco. His collaborators include famous creatives such as composer Phillip Glass and poet Allen Ginsberg, but before achieving the same level of renown, Russell fell victim to AIDs related illnesses and passed away at just 40 years old, leaving behind more than 1,000 tapes of unreleased music. In this interview, LionsRoar.com editor Rod Meade Sperry asks how these tapes fell into the possession of Audika Record's Steve Knutson, and became several posthumous albums. You’ll hear samples of songs from the most recent album, Iowa Dream, and a full track called In Love with you for the Last Time.
