ERICK STRICKLAND- Erick Strickland, born 25 November 1973 in (Opelika, Alabama) is an American professional basketball player formerly in the NBA and also Drafted by the Florida Marlins to play 2 1/2 Years in the Minor Leagues. Strickland attended in , where he was All-State in 3 sports. In Football 2 years, Basketball 2 years and Baseball 1. Strickland was named 14th on the Top 100 Greatest Athletes in Nebraska History, where he is ranked No. 2 All Time in the Omaha Metro Conference for scoring, leading his team in 1991 to the State Finals and a Runner-Up finish. • • Bellevue West High School Bellevue, Nebraska Strickland then went on to attend college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a 4 Year Letterman for the Cornhuskers. Leading the team to 2 NCAA Appearances and 2 NIT's, winning the NIT in 1996 where he was named MVP. Averaging 12.5 Pts per game in his career which ranks in No. 7 All-Time with 1586 pts and his 257 Steals ranks him No. 2 in Nebraska History. Having a great career at the University of Nebraska he was named Big 8 Freshman of the Year, 3 time All Defensive Team and Academic All-Big 8, Strickland also graduated with a degree in Sociology in 1996. Upon the completion of an illustrious college career, Strickland was undrafted in the 1996 NBA Draft, but caught on as a free agent with the Dallas Mavericks, where he spent four seasons and averaged a career- high 12.8 points per game in 1999–2000. He later played for the New York Knicks, Vancouver Grizzlies, Boston Celtics where he helped them to return to prominence where they reached the NBA Conference finals in 2002 against the New Jersey Nets. He also played with the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks before retiring in 2005, averaging 7.5 points per game throughout his nine-year NBA career playing in multiple roles as a starter, key bench contributor and team support role Strickland was ready to do what was necessary for the success of the team no matter the role he played • . After retiring Strickland worked for the Dallas Mavericks as Manager of Business Relations and Sport Analyst with Fox Sports Southwest. Recently adding to his coaching and player development resume, Strickland was a coach for NBA Combine, 2014. National Tryout Camps for the Bakersfield Jam and as an Assistant Coach/ Player Development Coordinator for Division II New Mexico Highlands University and his former High School at Bellevue West and the National AAU Team the Omaha Crusaders.
