DISCUSSING OREGON PINOT NOIR WITH CRISTOM’S TOM GERRIE

Associate Editor Claire Nesbitt speaks with Tom Gerrie, winegrower and second-generation owner of Cristom Vineyards in Willamette Valley, Oregon, on how the state's pinot noirs compare with those from Sonoma County, California. Tom describes Oregon's fruit as "relatively bright. it's relatively high-toned, relatively red-fruited for the most part. I do think we have some differences based on soil... Our [deep] volcanic soils are extremely bright and red-fruited.
