S3 E9: The Ultimate Guide to the Summer Solstice

The Empowered Modern Witches Show - A podcast by Tenae Stewart - Mondays

In this episode, we are talking all about the meaning of the summer solstice! This is the longest day of the year, also known as Litha and Midsummer, and occurs around June 20 each year in the northern hemisphere. (In the southern hemisphere, it occurs around December 20 each year.) This is the sun at the peak of its power, the day of the year with the most light hours. After this, the days start to get shorter and the nights grow longer once more, but for this sacred day, time seems to stand still. The summer solstice occurs when the sun reaches 0 degrees of Cancer. It also occurs within a few weeks of the new moon in Cancer and the full moon in Capricorn, activating this axis of rest and work, intuitive self-care and sustainable, grounded action. At the opposite end of the year, the winter solstice occurs when the sun reaches 0 degrees of Capricorn. In the southern hemisphere, these are reversed, but the solstices always activate this Cancer-Capricorn access. Listen to learn all about the history, themes and symbolism, and astrology of the summer solstice and how to celebrate in your own real, modern life.
