5 | Grief is love with nowhere to go with Rachel Reichblum

The Current - A podcast by Nadia Last

Grief is one of the most taboo topics and yet death is the only inevitable that we will all experience in this life. Whether or not you’ve experienced the death of someone close to you, we can all relate to the feeling of grief this year more than ever. It’s an emotion that unites all of us as we mourn the plans we thought that we were going to have, the year that we thought this would be, the relationships and jobs lost, the locations moved, the human lives lost and many more forever changed by this pandemic. In The Current's inaugural interview, host Nadia Last interviews her dear friend, former coworker, and creator of @thatgoodgrief, an Instagram that welcomes people who are grappling with grief in all of its many forms. With wit, humor, and deep wisdom, Rachel discusses her experience of losing both parents to the same form of brain cancer within 14 months of each other while Rachel was in her late 20's and the events that ultimately nudged her to create @thatgoodgrief. Her story is all of our stories. At various points in our lives, we will all feel grief. Rachel's story gives us permission to grieve, to create space for grief as love with nowhere to go. To be kind to ourselves and allow space for grief in whatever way it manifests in our lives.
