(May Sarton) Negative emotions like loneliness, envy, and guilt have an important role to play in a happy life; they're big, flashing signs that something needs to change. (Gretchen Rubin) We have all known the long loneliness, and we have found that the answer is community. (Dorothy Day) FIRST, UNDERSTAND WHY WE GET LONELY IN THE FIRST PLACE This can be multifaceted. 1). No one "gets" our vision 2). We work alone or we lead others and don't feel like we have peers. 3). Leadership and pouring into a dream can be emotionally exhausting (we need to recharge with more intentionality than most people) SECOND, KNOW WHAT LONELINESS DOES TO YOU For everyone it's a little different, but some of the ways loneliness expresses itself negatively is: -Lack of motivation -Procrastination -Isolation -Loss of passion -Feelings of inadequacy -Boredom -Feelings of overwhelm or underwhelm -Self-induced pity-parties (no one works as hard as me, I'm the only one who doesn't get this, etc. / pity self-isolates) FINALLY, BE PROACTIVE ABOUT FIGHTING LONELY VIBES Don't be embarrassed that you're lonely. It's a natural human experience. Take action on what you can do and know that in doing so, you are better equipping yourself to thrive through your work. Get out and connect with others. Outsource and delegate when and where you can. Work in public spaces. Create real relationships online. Invest in deep relationships in person. Get involved in a mastermind. Hire a coach. Share your dreams and wins/whoas with your partner. Know your WHY to why you do what you do. Focus on the people you are positively impacting, even if you can't see them. Every number is a name and every name has a story. Read and connect with stories that spark your imagination and your drive (both fiction and non-fiction) Be a good neighbor. Focus on real connection. Focus on slowing down and creating margin. Focus on abundance. ANNOUNCEMENTS: We all need community. We all need a coach. We all need to be pushed and held accountable to keep showing up as o...
