HOW TO STOP OVERTHINKING FOR GOOD PODCAST #255 In this episode of #TheConfidencePodcast we’re chatting about: * How to stop overthinking for good – in three simple ways * Why overthinking happens in the first place * A trick to flip overthinking into immediate action As always, a quick hello to all of my Keep the Faith listeners, thanks for being a part of this extended community of contagious encouragement. SPONSORSHIP NOTE: I am proud to be an educator and consultant for Beautycounter, a B-Corp company on a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone. The lack of regulation in the personal care and cosmetic industry is astounding and it is harming our health in very serious ways. We need more voices to join up on our mission. If you want to put your passion to purpose while being generously compensated, then I would love to start a conversation with you about what it means to be involved in the #saferbeauty tribe that is Beautycounter. Join the movement of #betterbeauty and message me via email to make your voice really resonate for a cause. The more you overthink the less you will understand. -Habeeb Akande Thinking will not overcome fear but action will. -Clement Stone If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done. -Bruce Lee Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right. -Henry Ford Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things. -Ray Bradbury HOW TO STOP OVERTHINKING FOR GOOD #1: LEARN TO TRUST YOURSELF -Get rid of old self-limiting beliefs -Visualize yourself how you want to see yourself -Give yourself credit for being better / smarter than you think you are -Stop taking everything so seriously or as final – we can always adapt #2: LEARN TO TAKE MORE ACTION -The minute you feel resistance, stop what you are doing and do something positive -Focus on baby steps, not giant leaps -Keep your eyes on your own lane to keep your drive going -Overnight success is for fairy tales – be realistic and patient #3: LEARN TO BE HAPPY-GO-LUCKY -What will be will be – and you can do hard things, no matter what happens -Life starts outside of our comfort zone -Having more fun (#253) and stressing less (#254) -Take the pressure off yourself – you don’t have to be perfect WHY DOES OVERTHINKING HAPPEN? -Because we put too much pressure on ourselves -Because we don’t trust ourselves. -Because we fear messing up or the unknown -Because we care more about other people’s opinions than what matters to us. -Because we don’t know the depth of our own power. -Because we have created a habit of doing it. -Because we have convinced ourselves that we need to be more “qualified’ or “prepared” FLIPPING OVERTHINKING INTO IMMEDIATE ACTION * Catch yourself in the overthinking cycle. * Declare that you’re a massive action taker, not a massive thinker. * Refuse to be stuck because of your thinking. * Give yourself 5-minutes to countdown and prepare * Take some sort of action and feel the fear of the leap of self-trust. Be proud of yourself and then rinse, repeat. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
