IDENTIFY THE HABITS THAT HINDER YOU Start with just three and write them down. Identify why you have faulted to those habits. Next, identify why they don’t serve you anymore. Habits are automated behaviors that we have taught ourselves – so don’t forget that you are boss, not your habit – and habit reformation is a very feasible process for anyone to do. 1). 2). 3). KNOW WHY THEY HOLD YOU BACK AND DECIDE TO BE READY TO BREAK UP WITH THEM Have a ceremony. Separate yourself now from who you used to be. Personify the habit and detach it from you. Change the way you speak about yourself and your tendencies ( I “always” … / I’m a ____ thinker / etc) NOW IDENTIFY WHICH ‘THINKING HABITS’ NEED TO GO Stinking thinking is a habit. It’s a mental approach to the world around you. Notice what are the first natural recourses to which your mind goes – and assess from there. Ask yourself what kind of thinking habits you have – and then identify which one needs to go. Examples: Negative thinking Anxious thinking Productivity obsessed thinking Busy thinking Stressed thinking Fearful thinking BREAK UP WITH THEM BY REALLY UNDERSTANDING HOW YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE WHEN YOUR MINDSET CHANGES In the same way you break up with someone in a bad relationship, look at your thinking patterns as toxic. Just because you know something is bad for you doesn’t make it any easier to break up with. Work through the breakup and the newness – the leaving of your comfort zone – by being OPEN. Know that new thinking will make you feel free and different and focus on where it will take you. In the meantime, in the process, focus on being at peace and at one with the unknown. It is a reinvention / transformation process – and remember, if how you were thinking before didn't work for you, then what do you have to lose by trying it a new way?
