Receiving the Kingdom

One of the themes that runs through the entire bible is that of kingdom. In our passage from Joshua, we see the new kingdom of Israel being parcelled out to the various tribes. In Luke 17 we hear Jesus describe the new kingdom of God. And what is amazing about this kingdom is that it is always a kingdom that is received as a gift from God, not something that was earned.
