Where Is The Comfort, God?

Currently, you could be in one of 3 places: currently in the dark valley, just got out of the valley, or you’re about to walk through the valley. Am I right? Sometimes, life can really feel like one big dark valley. And it’s real, it hurts, it brings fear into your life, it might even take some of that God given confidence, joy and peace away from you. All of that is real to you and you are seeking comfort from God.You know He is a God of comfort. You know you need to trust His ways are higher than your ways. You know to turn to Him when you are feeling like you’re in that dark valley. You might even remember this verse and have prayed some sort of version for yourself. “Lord, I come to you for comfort. You tell me that your rod and your staff comfort me. I need that comfort right now.” -- And then you wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and the comfort never seems to come. The pain is still there. The struggle is still there. The exhaustion is still there. And then we ask the same question “God, you told me you would comfort me. But I feel zero comfort. My pain is still there. My struggle is still there. I’m still feeling mentally exhausted and I have little peace and joy. I don’t think you have heard me God. I feel like you have forgotten me, Lord. I don’t matter much to you, do I?” But here is what I want to bring to light: the word “comfort” in this passage does not mean God will take away the pain and suffering. Can God just take it away like “that”? Absolutely He can. Does He chose to leave it there? Yep, He does that too. Comfort is not the absence of the pain, like we like to think it is. At least when it’s used in the bible, that typically is not what it means. Worldly comfort is the comfort we want. Zero pain. Zero suffering. Easy living. No struggles. But Spiritual comfort is what we need, because it requires us to rely on God. It is not a lack of pain and struggle, but becoming strengthened and reinvigorated, reinforced, by God! It’s knowing we cannot do any of this on our way, whether in the dark valley or sitting pretty. We need God. And His comfort means He gives us the strength required to keep walking through the valley until you make it to the other side! --------------------------------Have you been wanting to grow that more intimate relationship with God or spend more time in the word but just don’t know where to start?
