CHRISTIAN LIVING SERIES: Pray Like David

God Is Within Her - a women’s devotional podcast - A podcast by Valarie Reynolds

I feel like, normally, when we think of prayer we think it is just talking to God and asking Him for things. And as believers, we are called to pray, petition and ask. I think of Phil 4:6 that says “Do not be anxious about anything but in EVERYTHING by PRAYER AND PETITION, present your requests to God.” Validation, check, yes we can pray and petition about everything. We have John 15:5-7 where Jesus is talking about being the vine and we are the branches. Apart from Jesus, we wither away. And then in verse 7 he says “ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” Great, so more validation. As believers, if we remain in Him, and we believe & abide by His words, we can ask for whatever we wish and it will be done. 1 Thessalonians tells us to “pray without ceasing”. Good ole Luke 11, you probably have heard this one, “And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”We know many of those verses or, at least, have heard of them. It’s a lot of asking. Ask God for this, ask God for that. But prayer is more than just asking. And David’s prayer in 2 Samuel is a wonderful example of what our prayers need to contain, and it’s more than just asking for blessing. So let’s break this down so we can learn how to prayer better. Prayer is worship. Let's learn how to pray like David.---------------------------------------Have you been wanting to grow that more intimate relationship with God or spend more time in the word but just don’t know where to start?
