Be IMITATORS of Christ, not just believers

“How do I know what is Christ-like and what is not?”I get this question a lot.  God’s standard for us is a tall order! But He calls us to be less like the world and more like Christ! We can live under the influence of culture or we can live under the influence of God. In other words, we have free will as a Christian and daily we have to ask ourselves, “are our actions, words, decisions, etc being more influenced by the world or by God?” What is “good” in the eyes of the world doesn’t always live up to the standard of “goodness” biblically. And the danger of living by the standard of the world’s watered-down definition of “good” is that, as believers and followers of Christ, we think we are doing good, we think we are living as a “good person”, but we are falling significantly short of the standard God wants us to follow.You can watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, be entertained, and then go on about your life. You follow it, you keep up with it, but about 45 minutes of drama, you pick life right back up and you’re not changed. We can do the same thing with what we read in the Bible. We read it, we might get some relief or entertainment from it, and then we go on about our life and nothing changes.
