#14 - Raise your Vibration with Joanna Mcewen

The Barbra May Show - A podcast by Barbra May

Joanna Mcewen joined me on the show for this episode, and it was incredible to hear her work on sound practice and the power of sound in our physical and emotional lives. Joanna is an experienced and qualified Sound Practitioner and holds an MA in Applied Anthropology, Youth and Community where her thesis was on the power of food and ritual in communities.   She is an Empowered Learning Practitioner for those with SEN and has worked with special educational needs, young people, and families for over 20 years. Her TED talk (which I definitely recommend everyone watch) on the link between vibrations, harmonious sound, and serendipitous moments currently has over 1.3 million views. It's not just the power of sound, but also the power of silence that can have huge impacts on our lives. It’s the stillness, those moments, as Joanna said, where we come into that sigh, and we just relax. Whether you’re doing yoga or doing sound practice, you need to have that pause to allow whatever work you have done and changes you’re going through to settle into your body. Personally, I need music with everything I do. If I want to be creative, buy something, respond to emails, I need music on because it inspires me. Joanna explained in this episode the raw power of music and why we have that connection to it, why we have a connection to vibration. This episode is essential listening for anyone who is curious about the power of therapeutic sound, spiritual expansion, and how serendipity can be manifested through our relationship with sound.    https://www.barbramay.com/episode14
