My name is Betsy pake, if you’re new here, I am a speaker and a coach. And I train ripple makers to become coaches as well. So, alright, so there’s a lot of things that I want to talk about today, this season, I feel like our lives are in seasons, right that don’t necessarily go along with the seasons outside. But we have seasons in our lives, slower seasons and seasons that are more creative. And for me, I feel like I’m coming out of a really I don’t want to use the word hard, although that’s the word that came to me. But a really challenging season, there was a lot of opportunity for me to shift how I’ve been seeing things, and to grow, and to learn really strong and good boundaries and a new way. And just really, really great, great lessons about allowing myself the space to rest. You know, I think that right, resting gets a bad rap. We we are. So I think we’re in such a community of busyness and like achieving things as what’s really good, that we forget that resting is really, really important too. And I had to fight against that a lot over the past couple months, allowing myself to back up and allowing myself to slow down and the fears that came along with that. But I knew that that’s what my body needed. That’s what mentally I needed. And I do feel like rest is just as important as doing. And that the truth is that rest only means something that we assign the meaning to, you know, if we grew up in a different culture, and maybe you’re listening and you’re in Spain, or someplace where they take a siesta right in the afternoon and you’re allowed to rest, then it becomes a different meaning. But for me, and the way that I grew up, being productive was really, really important. And so shifting, and allowing myself the space to rest made me realize that that has a purpose to and that doing isn’t the only thing. And that if I could stop resisting, the need to rest, because all that does is really like prolong the need to rest. But if I could stop resisting, and just allow myself the space, you know, to heal and to breathe, and to expand that. It was those moments where I was quiet, when I could start to see and hear and feel the messages that I needed to in order to move forward and to use those challenges to create opportunities and possibilities for me in my life. So I wanted to share that in case you’re in that season. You know, it’s been a long, 18 months. And I think that if you live in an area like I do, I live in Atlanta where the pandemic isn’t something that we notice all the time, because people don’t really wear masks here in Atlanta anymore, then the mask mandate has been lifted. And so it’s we forget that it’s still happening, there’s still a lot of unrest and a lot of fighting that we see, you know, on the news and like social media, all the places, and there is this underlying uncertainty that perhaps is making you really, really tired. And I think that over the course of the last 18 months, a lot of us have become really tired, but all of us probably and in a global way. And if you live in a place where you have to be busy, then it’s compounding on that and might be starting to wreck havoc on your body or your spirit. I know for me, that’s what was happening. And so allowing yourself the space and just understanding there’s a lot going on. Even if your life right now may have like challenges or normal things happening. There’s still an underlying, like stressor out there.
