S1: Commodore's Log Supplemental

Standard Orbit: A Star Trek Original Series Podcast - A podcast by Trek.fm

Norm's Reflections on The Kelvin Era Movies. Over the last several shows on Standard Orbit - specifically episodes 133 and 134, the Commodore (Norman C. Lao) did not have the opportunity to participate in all of the thought provoking and exciting conversations as The Chief (Ken Tripp), Mr. AtoZ (Jeffrey Harlan) and new Standard Orbit crewmember Zach Moore delved deeply into the Kelvin Era cinematic universe. On the cusp of the epically anticipated Star Trek BEYOND, Norm really wanted to participate in his own way. So he decided to pull rank here and record his own thoughts on this new movie universe. Admittedly he was ashamed of his attitude towards Star Trek 2009 and in this Supplemental Commodore's Log entry, he confesses how his fandom almost stalled as his love of the Original Series blinded him to the very tenant that Star Trek was built upon: IDIC...Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Challenged by that very ideal and axiom of TOS, Norm makes that very same plea to the Star Trek fandom at large and hopes that we all as the fanbase strive to understand the current state of Star Trek and move forward in a collective and positive manner. Note: This recording was made PRIOR to the weekend before Star Trek BEYOND. Host Norman C.
