More than 17,000 Ukrainians forced out of their country by war have resettled here in Washington State. That's according to the state’s refugee and immigration assistance office. Some chose the Pacific Northwest because it’s known to be friendly to the LGBTQ+ community, but as KUOW's Natalie Newcomb reports, prejudice can follow people across the world. She spoke to members of a Ukrainian family, who have waited years to get recognition and protection for their love.
