Ep21: Sliding Doors with Pepsi & Shirlie

Sliding Doors - A podcast by Jennie Becker - Thursdays

Pepsi & Shirlie are best known as members of the phenomenon WHAM! alongside George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, as well as being their own pop duo in the 80s with hits such as Heartache. The duo were raised in different parts of London, coming from big working class families and had one more thing in common - they shared a love for music and dreamt of bigger things… little did they know the huge role they would play in the musical landscape of the 80s, still featuring on our screens today in classic videos such as Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and Last Christmas. With a friendship spanning over 35 years, the girls have now been inspired to put their memories into a book ‘It’s all in Black and White’ reminiscing on their time in the spotlight, on and off stage, and everything in between. In this episode we get two for the price of one, with moments from both Pepsi and Shirlie! Through this inspiring and insightful chat, it is totally evident why the two have such a strong connection and friendship. We discuss it all from how a phone call led to Pepsi joining WHAM! and how on a trip to the pub, going to the toilet changed Shirlie's life! We delve into the moments of fate that have played such a large role in both of their lives, from playing parts on stage to having babies. Pepsi & Shirlie have the most amazing outlook on life and this chat really explores the theories around the paths our lives follow, and ultimately how we all just need to have faith!@slidingdoorspod Hosted by: @jenbecks28 Guests: @shirliekemp @pepsidemacquec Hosted on Acast.
