#164: Living By Grace: Grace That Mitigates

Racism Isn’t about What We Do but What We Believe   (Guest: Dr. Mark Haywood) When people hear the word “racist,” they typically feel guilty, ashamed, or defensive. We avoid addressing our biases and assumptions about other races because we don’t like the name. In today’s society, there is a lack of awareness of what racism implies. God’s grace that mitigates helps us respond with love and grace in a world challenged by racism, hatred, and division.   New systems or regulations aren’t the answer to racism in the long run. Racism isn’t about what we do, but rather what we believe. In the same way that our sin separates us from God, so does our fallen nature divide us from each other.   The World Needs God’s Grace that Mitigates   Jesus Christ is the only way to a new heart. Through Christ’s blood, we have been reconciled to God and to each other. Nothing will change unless we learn to see others as fellow children of God.   God desires for us to become more adept in extending grace to others, and counteract racism with His goodness. When we extend grace to another person, we are doing it in the same way that God has given us Christ.   We don’t deserve God’s forgiveness, and it’s possible that someone you know doesn’t either.
