Will my family DISOWN me if I leave the Mormon Church?

Saints Unscripted - A podcast by Saints Unscripted

We often see this comment (or a variation of this comment) in our YouTube comments. The comment is, "Mormons will disown you if you disagree with/choose to leave the Church!!" It's a bold claim but is it true?    Okay, this is a sensitive topic. There are certainly people who have chosen to leave the church and were then ostracized by their families. And we don't want to ignore their experiences. Being ostracized by your own family is incredibly hard and shouldn't occur, especially if it's solely based on your decision to distance yourself from the church. However, the current teachings from the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints state that we should always choose to love our family members (and all people) in word and in deed. We should not disown members of our family for leaving the Church! Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/saintsunscripted
