This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient philosopher Aristotle's work of moral theory, the Nicomachean Ethics. Specifically it focuses focuses on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics book 6, and examines his discussion of the intellectual virtue of scientific or disciplinary knowledge (episteme) Scientific knowledge, according to Aristotle, bears upon matters whose principles do not change, or which are "from necessity". It works rationally from principles or starting points (archai), but does not supply those principles themselves. It also has to do with universals.
