Sadler's Lectures - A podcast by Lectures on classic and contemporary philosophical texts and thinkers by Gregory B. Sadler

Categories:

This lecture discusses key ideas from the medieval monk, theologian, philosopher, and educator Alcuin of York's work, On Virtues and Vices. Specifically it examines his discussions in chapters 24, 31, 32, and 33, in which he discusses three of the capital or principal vices, namely anger, sorrow, and weariness or acedia. With each of these he discusses how and why they are damaging to the human being, what other vices or sins they typically produce, and what remedies there are for them.
