61: On No-Fault Divorce Post 1969 aka Thanks Ronald Reagan (???)

No-fault divorce, or unilateral divorce, became a thing in 1969. Before that, to have a divorce approved by a court one party had to prove the other had committed some kind of fault, like adultery, alcoholism, or desertion. After no-fault divorce passed (initiated by Ronny Reagan of all people), coinciding with more rights for women passed in the '70s, female suicide rates went down! Female homicide rates went down! Wowowow. Making it easier for women to get out of potentially dangerous or abusive partnerships was a good thing all around, but now there are a few states trying to *overturn it* -- which is pretty damn scary.Patreon ~ patreon.com/sadgapMerch ~ sadgap-podcast.com/merchig: @sadgap.podcast / @misandristmemes / @txgothgf / music producer @iamjonnibrooks.eth Source List: https://bit.ly/4dSrL6Y
