Gossip is thought of as a "girl thing", even though numerous studies have established that guys and gals gossip about the same amount. And not all gossip is nasty, either. In fact most of it is a neutral exchange of news and a way for people to bond! Yet there are historical examples of men LITERALLY PUTTING MUZZLES ON WOMEN for gossiping too much. Mayhaps because when women gossip they can share info about a man (& his bad behavior), they can learn from each other, they can protect each other?
