Ep 065 - Will taking a career pause to care for your child(ren) hurt you in the long run?
Redefining You - A podcast by Amanda Cahill
Welcome back to another episode of Redefining Motherhood! Today I share some key insights from a discussion I had with a fellow working mother, who has been struggling with whether to leave her high-level career to spend more time with her baby girl. As ambitious women, it's easy to get caught up in what others may think of our choices or feel like we must constantly plan our next move. It's okay to give yourself permission to make the choice that feels right for your family's needs in this season, without worrying so much about the future. The truth is, having gaps in employment is accepted now more than ever before with mental health and flexibility becoming priorities for many. In talking to other successful women in my industry who had taken time off after having children helped me realize it doesn't mean the end of your career progression. Many of those same women are now CEOs or C-Suite executives after having taken a year or more away when their kids were young. This opened my eyes to see that taking a break doesn't have to negatively impact your future opportunities. My hope is that more women will give themselves the space and time to truly understand what they need without feeling stressed. Whether it's a new job role that's more flexible or staying home, put parameters around your break so you can fully recharge without overthinking the next steps. You deserve to prioritize your happiness and find purpose on your own timeline. Connect with Amanda: IG: @amandacahill_ Visit: www.amandacahill.com Follow @redefiningmotherhood
