The Red Cross and Red Crescent societies are working in increasingly turbulent and deadly conflicts around the globe, with 2024 becoming the deadliest year on record for the charity. Thirty-eight staff and volunteers were killed last year in conflicts such as the war in Gaza. Meanwhile, another 10 have already died this year including the eight who were killed by Israeli forces in March.
