Lisa Heng - Aspirations of an Undergraduate Double Major

Psych Explained - A podcast by Dr. Jack

Categories:

Lisa Heng is a junior at the University of Louisville double majoring in Public Health and Psychology. As a Cambodian American, she grew up observing how intergenerational trauma and the barriers to mental healthcare access have led to worsened health outcomes in her community. She is currently working with the Asia Institute-Crane House to promote trauma-informed, culturally competent care from or 1st-generation Asian immigrants in Kentucky. She can be reached via her email: [email protected] In this episode we explore Lisa's story - from her personal history that led up to her academic goals, life as an ethnic minority university student, starting college at the onset of the pandemic, and many topics related to her college experience. For audience members who are in the early stages of their academic pursuits, I feel there's a lot to learn from Lisa's experiences.    *Note: As always, this psych related podcast is for educational purposes only, so please rely upon and seek relevant professional help in your community if needed.
